Third and Final Season of ‘Lost in Space’ to Hit Netflix in 2021
The third and final season of the sci-fi drama “Lost in Space” will air on Netflix sometime next year.
The Robinson family adventure show, which launched in April 2018, had always been envisioned as a trilogy, according to showrunner-executive producer Zack Estrin (“Prison Break,” “Stranger Than Fiction”).
“Lost in Space” opened with a catastrophic event that has threatened humanity, and the Robinsons are chosen for the 24th mission of the Resolute (24th Colonist Group), an interstellar spacecraft carrying selected families to colonize the Alpha Centauri star system.
Season two of the space saga launched on Dec. 24, 2019.
“It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith … and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken,” Estin said.
“Lost in Space” stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Mina Sundwall, Taylor Russell, Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey.
Ted Biaselli, director of original series at Netflix, promises “Lost in Space” will end with an “epic finale.”
Estin will continue to produce shows for the streamer, having signed a multi-year deal.
Netflix also announced Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) is executive producing a new animated comedy called “Mulligan.” The 20-episode series takes place after aliens destroy Earth and humans have to rebuild their world.
