CBS All Access Releases Mysterious New Teaser for ‘Star Trek: Picard’

All hail Sir Patrick Stewart as he makes his way back to the Star Trek franchise as Jean-Luc Picard. CBS All Access released the first official teaser trailer for the new season titled, Star Trek: Picard, and it looks as though it’ll offer all Trekkies a whole of lot questions and a whole lot of wine.

Though not much is being revealed about the plot line, the voiceover suggests that Picard “commanded the greatest armada in history” 15 years ago until an “unimaginable” event forced him to leave Starfleet and retire to his family’s infamous vineyard. The new season seems to explore why that may be.

Sir Patrick Stewart will be joined by Santiago Cabrera as a pilot, Michelle Hurd as an intelligence officer, as well as Alison Pill and Harry Treadaway in unspecified roles.

Star Trek: Picard Trailer

Picard is preceded by Star Trek: Discovery which premiered it’s second season this past January. It was set ten years before Captain Kirk’s five-year mission, as shown in the original Star Trek series from the 1960s, and chronicled Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the U.S.S Discovery as they investigated seven mysterious signals.

The new 10-episode season will join Discovery and other series such as The Twilight Zone and The Good Fight as part of the original content created for CBS All Access.

CBS All Access will also be adding onto it’s Star Trek content in the future. The streaming service will also be offering a spin-off series based off Michelle Yeoh’s Discovery character, Philippa Georgiou and a half-hour adult animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks, focused on on the support crew serving one of Starfleet’s least important ships.

If you want to get a head start and watch the previous two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery before the premiere of Picard later this year, you can sign up now for a 7-day free trial of CBS All Access. The service offers a $5.99 plan with limited commercials or a $9.99 plan with no commercials after the free trial.

So, bottoms Trekkies, because the end is only the beginning.
