The US was shut out during its last outing against Panama, dropping the game 1-0. While Panama is no slouch, the match offered a chance for the US to put some real distance between themselves and the rest of the pack.

The US is in a situation now where they have to start collecting points, preferably 3-point wins versus 1-point draws, the rest of the way. They’ll face off against a Costa Rica team that won its previous match against El Salvador and hasn’t lost since its 1-0 defeat by the hands of Mexico.
