Hulu Expands Partnership With Marvel, Plans New Food-Focused Originals Featuring Chrissy Teigen
Hulu, which announced that it had hit 26.8 million subscribers, also released news about some of the upcoming partnerships for new content. During the Hulu ‘19 Presentation at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, company executives gave details about what viewers should anticipate coming to the streaming service; and it includes a lot of fresh material.
Hulu And Marvel Are Expanding Their Partnership
While most of Marvel’s content will be exclusive to Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+, including new release films like Avengers: Endgame, and originals WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier — Hulu will continue to create their own Marvel content.
Already having seen success with action shows like Marvel’s Runaways, Hulu is continuing to create new comics content, with Marvel Television bringing two new live-action series, Marvel’s Ghost Rider and Marvel’s Helstrom, which are both slated to debut on Hulu in 2020.
Hulu Signs Multi-Year Deals To Create Food-Focused Hulu Originals
Hulu partnered with Vox Media Studios, David Chang’s Majordomo Media, and Chrissy Teigen’s Suit & Thai Productions to develop and produce premium food-centric programming for the streaming service.
Chang, who’s the founder and chef of the Momofuku restaurant group, brings a great understanding of the global food culture, while Vox Media Studios brings in-depth storytelling and experience in the food industry with its travel network, Eater.
Finally, Chrissy Teigen, a New York Times bestselling cookbook author, will co-produce and headline various cooking shows, with the earliest concept being a show with both Teigen and Chang, tentatively entitled Family Style, which revolves around how people express their love for friends and family by cooking and eating together.
Hulu To Launch Binge Advertising As New Non-Intrusive Format
Hulu is increasing its investment in non-intrusive ad formats, with the industry’s first binge advertising experience. The new format will give marketers the opportunity to target binge viewers with a creative that is situationally relevant to their viewing behavior.
According to, Peter Naylor, SVP and Head of Advertising Sales at Hulu:
“Because of our viewer-first advertising principles, we’re scaling rapidly. We’re offering advertisers the most sophisticated targeting, the largest addressable footprint in on-demand television, robust measurement solutions, and new ad models. Hulu is future-proofing TV advertising and transforming the way brands connect with consumers.”
The new experience, will join Hulu’s recently launched pause ads, which the company announced will expand to additional content and advertisers in August.
