MLB.TV Passes 10 Billion Minutes Watched During 2021 Season

Major League Baseball announced today that more than 10 billion minutes of action were viewed by fans on the league’s streaming service, MLB.TV, this season. This marks the first time that milestone has been crossed in a single season.

According to MLB figures, the MLB.TV streaming product racked up a total of 10.5 billion minutes of viewing, which completely eclipsed the previous record of 7.38 billion minutes, set in 2019, by more than 39%.

The league said that MLB.TV recorded 141.98 million games watched over the course of the regular season, making it the most-watched in the service’s history, as well as an increase of more than 37% over the previous record of 101.4 million games, also from the 2019 season.

In addition, the 10 most-watched days in the service’s history were recorded in 2021, as well as 13 of the service’s top 15 days, along with the top five most-streamed games and nine of the 10 most-streamed games in MLB.TV history.

The single most-viewed game this year was the MLB Field of Dreams game, which averaged 5.9 million viewers. That figure made it the single most-watched regular-season game in23 years, since the 1988 game where Mark McGwire hit his 62nd home run in a single season.

Additionally, according to the league, the average viewing age of MLB.TV is 44, according to the league. This indicates that the viewing age has gotten four years younger since 2018, when the average viewing age was 48.

MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on demand, and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through their Multi-view feature.

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($149.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($129.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider.

If you’d like to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.
