Netflix Sets June 27 as Premiere Date for Highly Anticipated Season 3 of German Original ‘Dark’

Netflix is once again giving the people what they want. The streaming giant just dropped the trailer for the new season of “Dark” and also revealed the hit drama will be back on the platform for a third and final season on June 27. In the series, which follows four estranged families and a time-travel conspiracy that spans three generations, June 27 is the day of the apocalypse, so the premiere date is no coincidence.

The trailer features all the beloved characters from the show, including Jonas, Martha and Bartosz, and alludes to the challenges they have been facing throughout the series. “The show was one of the streamer’s first big international successes, receiving critical acclaim and reportedly major viewership outside of its native Germany,” according to Deadline.

Netflix has announced several series making their way back to the platform just in time for the summer. “The Politician,” from renowned writer and creator, Ryan Murphy will begin streaming on June 19. The new season has plenty of political and familial plot twists, as we pick up Payton’s trajectory for his long-held obsession: becoming President of the United States.

Also in June is the second season of comedy series, “Mr. Iglesias.” Helmed by veteran comic, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, the show follows “a good-natured public high school teacher in Long Beach, California, who works at his alma mater. Gabe takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat assistant principal (Oscar Nuñez) but also to help them unlock their full potential.”

The second season, coming June 17, centers on romance as Mr. Iglesias convinces two of his students to audition for the roles of Romeo and Juliet in the school play, all while Principal Paula, played by Sherri Shepherd, serves as Cupid to find him the girl of his dreams.

The service will also bring back “The Umbrella Academy.” The original series, which is based on the Dark Horse Comics title created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, comes back to the platform on July 31.
