“Creepshow” — an original series for AMC Network’s streaming service, Shudder, is set to air on AMC before the digital release of its second season, Deadline reports. This is the second time AMC Networks has integrated their linear and streaming services as they aired supernatural horror drama “NOS4A2” on AMC before it went on Shudder for a second run last year.
“There’s absolute crossover between the brand and the content on some of our linear channels and OTT services,” AMC Networks COO Ed Carroll said. “We think that Creepshow will be successful on AMC but will also then build audiences for the season two launch back on Shudder.”
AMC is not the only network employing this strategy. Last October, weeks before the launch of Disney+, Disney treated their young audiences to a peek of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” when they aired the show on ABC, Freeform and the Disney Channel on Nov. 8 before it debuted with the service on Nov. 12.
Last June, CBS added “The Good Fight,” the streaming spin-off of former hit CBS show “The Good Wife,” to their summer line-up. The first season of the series, which originally premiered on CBS All Access in Feb. 2017, aired on CBS on June 16. CBS then aired two episodes on back-to-back Sunday evenings, with the remaining six episodes airing at 10 p.m. ET the subsequent weeks.
A specific air date for “Creepshow” has not been revealed.
