The third season of “On My Block” returns to Netflix on March 11 with eight half-hour episodes.
The coming-of-age comedy is about four friends who live in a tough Los Angeles inner-city neighborhood. Netflix’s synopsis for season 3: “They thought life was about to return to what passes for normal in Freeridge, but the stakes just got even higher.”
The show stars Diego Tinoco, Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray star along with Jessica Marie Garcia and Julio Macias, who became a regular last August.
A third season was dependent on renewed contract negotiations. As part of the show’s current pick-up, the stars asked for serious pay hikes. (They were originally paid $20,000 per episode.) The streamer and cast eventually settled on what amounts to $81,250 per episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“On the Block” was created by Lauren Iungerich (“Awkward”), Eddie Gonzalez (“All Eyes on Me”) and Jeremy Haft (“Tamara”). All three are also writers-executive producers.
Separately, another teen show, season three of “Elite” will premiere March 13 on Netflix. The Spanish-language thriller is set at the most exclusive high school in Spain.
The streamer is also in talks with producers about a sixth season of “Lucifer.”
