About UFC 279: Diaz vs. Ferguson

Nate Diaz was supposed to take on Khamzat Chimaev, one of the fastest-rising stars in the UFC, who won 10 of his last 11 fights by knockout or submission – but Chimaev missed weight by 7.5 lbs. Instead, Diaz will face Tony Ferguson at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The two will compete in a five-round contest.

Although Diaz has lost three of his last four fights, he remains one of the most popular fighters in MMA. He has 11 wins by submission and is best known for being the first fighter in the UFC to defeat Conor McGregor.

As of now, this is Nate Diaz’s final fight of his UFC contract, having first appeared in 2007. Will he be able to go out with one final victory like he did over Anthony Pettis, Cowboy Cerrone, and Jim Miller? The winner will have their first victory since 2019.

Chiamev will now fight Kevin Holland in the 180-lb catchweight fight which will be a co-main event. Holland was originally supposed to face Daniel Rodriguez.
