Corus Entertainment to Carry Peacock Original Programs in Canada

Corus Entertainment, a multiplatform media giant in Canada, has signed an agreement with NBC to air original Peacock programs, both scripted and unscripted.

The series have an impressive list of top names attached.

“Brave New World” stars Alden Ehrenreich, Harry Lloyd and Jessica Brown Findlay (“Downton Abbey”). “Girls5Eva” is produced by Tina Fey, while “Angelyne” stars Emmy Rossum. “Rutherford Falls” is created by Ed Helms (“The Office”), Mike Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Sierra Teller (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), who serves as showrunner.

Troy Reeb, EVP, broadcast networks for Corus, said the partnership “further bolsters Corus’ powerful suite of brands and platforms with more premium content opportunities for advertisers.”

Corus has a vast portfolio of multimedia offerings, including 34 specialty television services, 15 conventional television stations, and a suite of digital assets. It also creates content through the renowned Nelvana animation studio.

Peacock rolls out nationally July 15. It runs $5/month with ads and $10/month ad-free.

The service is also expanding its audience reach. At launch, it will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox One devices, including Xbox One S and Xbox One X. Xbox users can download the NBCU streamer via the Microsoft Store. It’s available via Apple devices, too.
