Hulu enlisted Zoë Kravitz, David H. Holmes, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Jake Lacy to bring back Nick Hornby’s “High Fidelity” as a series. The original adaptation came in the form of a movie directed by Stephen Frears with John Cusack as the main character back in 2000.

Hulu’s “High Fidelity” does a switch-a-roo on audiences. While the movie version featured Cusack as Rob, “a self-absorbed record-store owner who keeps sabotaging his relationships,” the series flips the table and has Kravitz as Rob, (now short for Robin), takes on the modern dating world instead. The series also moves locations from Chicago to Brooklyn.
According to Time, the series follows Rob as she mourns the end of a relationship by dating a “slightly basic Colorado transplant named Clyde” (played by Lacy), who thinks their meeting is divine intervention while she is simply rebounding. Rob’s solace comes in the form of Championship Vinyl, a Crown Heights record store she runs with her friends and employees, Cherise (played by Randolph) and Simon (played by Holmes).
Though the boom from the series has created some talk around the film as well, unfortunately, the 2000 movie version isn’t available to stream for free. The film is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video for $3.99/HD, $2.99/SD or purchase $17.99/HD, $9.99/SD.
