Peacock To Develop ‘Clueless’ TV Series

The 1995 hit teen movie “Clueless” is being revamped as a TV series for Peacock, reports Variety.

This round, the focus is on Dionne, the best friend of wealthy Cher, the focus of the original movie, played by Alicia Silverstone.

However, in the 21st-century rendition, the comedy is described as “a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans.”

Stacey Dash originated the role of Dionne. No word yet on casting.

Jordan Reddout (“The Muppets” and Gus Hickey (“Will & Grace”) will write and executive produce the series. CBS Television Studios will produce. Corrinne Brinkerhoff (“American Gothic”) and Scott Rudin are also executive producers.

“Clueless” has had several post-movie incarnations. It was adapted for ABC, then UPN, and aired from 1996-1999. There was also “Clueless: The Musical,” which ran off-Broadway in 2018.
