Quibi Renews Chrissy Teigen Reality Series ‘Chrissy’s Court’ for Season 2

Quibi has renewed “Chrissy’s Court,” starring supermodel-turned-media mogul Chrissy Teigen, for a second season, Deadline reported Friday.

Teigen also executive produces the courtroom comedy reality series.

“The verdict is in!!! Since there is no shortage of petty disagreements to judge, we’re back for a second season!!,” Teigen said, according to Deadline.

Each episode of the show features Teigen presiding as a judge over one small claims call. The cases, plaintiffs and defendants are real, and Teigen’s mom Pepper Thai joins the show as courtroom bailiff.
The show comes from Suit & Thai Productions (Teigen’s company), 3 Arts Entertainment and Alfred Street Industries. Applications are now open for cases to be featured on season two.

“Chrissy’s Court” is the latest of a handful of reality TV series to be renewed by the short-form streamer. Tituss Burgess-hosted cooking-competition show “Dishmantled,” MTV franchises “Punk’d” and “Singled Out,” as well as true crime home makeover show “Murder House Flip” have also been booked for second seasons.

The renewals come in spite of a rocky start for the mobile platform since its April launch. Quibi is reportedly on track to accrue just 2 million paid subscribers by April 2021, more than 5 million less than its year one projection.

One of the biggest criticisms of the service at its outset was it didn’t support AirPlay or Google Cast, meaning that if you wanted to share a video at home, there was no way to put it on the big screen. The screencasting issues have since been rectified, however, and the company is reportedly in talks with Roku and Amazon to bring its content to their connected TV devices.
