Sling TV Removes DVR Restrictions on ESPN, ACC Network, SEC Network and Other ESPN-Owned Channels

While Sling TV has had DVR support on nearly every channel, streamers on some channels like ESPN couldn’t record shows to their DVR. Starting today, the company is removing those restrictions on ESPN-owned channels, leaving just Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and Freeform as the only channels you can’t record.

Sling subscribers are now able to record programming from ACC Network, ESPN, ESPN Bases Loaded, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, and SEC Network. The only channels that customers won’t be able to record are digital networks like ACC Network Extra, ESPN3, and SEC Network+.

All recordings to Sling TV Cloud DVR now supports pause, rewind or fast-forward through any recorded programs, and the ability to skip commercials. The DVR is a $5 add-on to Sling’s $25 a month Orange or Blue plan.

With the change, that leaves just Hulu Live TV as the only service that does not offer users the ability to skip ads during recordings — that requires a $9.99 a month upgrade. fuboTV, Philo, YouTube TV, and AT&T TV NOW each offer the ability to skip ads on all recordings.
