The Criterion Collection’s Streaming Service to Launch in April, Early Subscribers to Get Extended Trial & Lifetime Discount

Last year, AT&T-owned WarnerMedia shut down indie streaming service Filmstruck, despite a campaign to save the service by Hollywood elite Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Barbra Streisand, Christopher Nolan and more.

One of the big draws to the service was the inclusion of films from The Criterion Collection like Muholland Drive, 12 Angry Men, and Dr. Strangelove for $10.99 a month.

Following the shutdown, The Criterion Collection team announced that they would be launching a streaming service in the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2019.

Today, the company announced that they will launch their streaming service called The Criterion Channel on April 8. Those sign up to become a Charter Subscriber can start watching their Movie of the Week series, featuring a new film every Wednesday until the official site launch.

Also, if you add your credit card, you will get an extended 30-day free trial (starting April 8) and pay a reduced $10 a month ($89.99 a year) for as long as your account stays active. New subscribers will pay $11 a month ($99.99 a year) when the site launches in April

In the meantime, if you want to watch The Criterion Collection, we suggest using the service Kanopy. The service will give you free access to the films with your library card from a participating library or university.
