AT&T TV Launches Nationwide with 5,000 Apps and 500 Hours of Cloud DVR Storage

After launching in 10 test markets back in August, AT&T finally launched AT&T TV nationwide today.

The service, which is powered by an Android TV set-top box, comes in a bundle that includes one gigabit AT&T Internet for $39.99/month for video and $39.99/month for internet for 12 months with a 24-month TV agreement until June 27.

For customers who don’t want to bundle AT&T TV, the company is offering one gigabit AT&T Internet only $49.99/month for 12 months. AT&T TV packages start at $49.99/month for 12 months with a 24-month agreement if you purchase it as a standalone service. The price includes the Entertainment package and one AT&T TV device. Regional sports channels cost an additional $8.49/month and are available with the Choice ($54.99/month), XTRA ($64.99/month) and Ultimate ($69.99) packages.

“Our customers told us what they want from their TV service and we built AT&T TV around that,” said Thaddeus Arroyo, CEO of AT&T Consumer. “AT&T TV is live TV made easy and when you add AT&T TV to our amazing 1 gigabit AT&T Internet you can’t go wrong.”

Last June, John Donovan, then AT&T Communications CEO, said the AT&T TV service would “radically reshape what your concept of television is.” However, when the company unveiled the service in August, it turned out to be everything people hated about cable and satellite companies — hidden fees contracts, teaser pricing, channels they don’t need — with the similar bundle that you would get with a $50 Live TV Streaming Service.

AT&T TV comes with live TV packages, sports and access to more than 5,000 apps and allows customers to switch between each without changing TV inputs. In addition, the service comes with a voice remote with the Google Assistant and offers a cloud DVR with 500 hours of storage.
