Sen. Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, came out as the winners in the controversial Iowa caucuses and are now clawing for the top spot in the New Hampshire primary. The polls in New Hampshire “start closing at 7 p.m. ET, and results are expected to start arriving at 8 p.m. ET,” according to the Washington Post.
The race has notably become quite contentious as candidates have put aside their cordiality and are vying to best one another. “Former Vice President Joe Biden, meanwhile, unleashed the harshest attack advertisement of the primary to date, targeting Buttigieg as he struggles to regain his footing and prevent his support among moderate Democrats from evaporating amid a worse-than-expected finish in Iowa and a new threat for that centrist lane from Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, whose events mostly outdrew Biden’s over the weekend,” CNN stated.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who came in third in Iowa, as well as Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who came in fifth, are both rallying last minute efforts to remain in the race. Warren is “working to turn out her army of volunteers,” while Klobuchar is “trying to capitalize on her debate performance,” The Times reported.
