The holidays may be over but Hulu still has one more gift to give its fans. The streaming service started streaming “Party of Five” on its platform a week earlier than expected. The series was originally slated to premiere on the Disney-owned Freeform channel on Jan. 8, but the pilot episode of the show is currently available to stream.

The show is a reboot of the ’90s show with the same name. Unlike the original, which followed the Salinger siblings as they had to find a way for themselves after their parents died in a car crash, this version follows the Acostas — a family of Latinx siblings — as they struggle to stay together in the wake of their parents’ deportation. Their journey is riddled with challenges as they are forced to become adults and find themselves having to defer their dreams, facing prejudice and discrimination and make sacrifices for each other.
“Party of Five” is the latest show to move between a streaming service and its corresponding TV channel. In October, Disney+ premiered “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” on ABC, Freeform and the Disney Channel four days before it made its debut on the service.
Back in May, CBS also added “The Good Fight,” the streaming spin-off of the former hit CBS show “The Good Wife,” to their summer line-up. The first season of the series, which originally premiered on CBS All Access in Feb. 2017, aired on CBS starting on Sunday, June 16. CBS then aired two episodes on back-to-back Sunday evenings, with the remaining six episodes airing at 10 p.m. ET the subsequent weeks.
