Jerry Seinfeld Likely to End Netflix Series ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,’ Stand-Up Specials
Comic Jerry Seinfeld is likely calling it quits on two fronts.
First, the creator, executive producer and host of the Emmy-nominated Netflix series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” appears to be turning off the ignition.
“I kind of feel like I did that tour,” Seinfeld said today during a virtual press conference.
During its 11 seasons, Jerry drove vintage cars, like a 1964 Studebaker Avanti and a 1970 Ford Mustang, with famous comedians, from Don Rickles to Sarah Silverman. And they had coffee. Lots of coffee, as they discussed life and show biz — often with hilarious results.
Second, Seinfeld also announced that he had probably filmed his last stand-up special.
His next special, May 5 on Netflix, is “23 Hours to Kill.”
He used the press briefing to update fans on the status of “Cars” and his televised stand-up. However, Seinfeld does intend to continue his stand-up career, just in clubs.
He told Deadline: “Now I feel like I just want to be out on a stage, I don’t really care where, I don’t care what size of venue, it’s just about enjoying that moment and it doesn’t have to be big or a conventional show-business venture.”
