Movies Anywhere Adds DirecTV to Distribution Partners, Offers One Complimentary Movie

Movies Anywhere today announced they have added DirecTV to their list of distribution partners. The two companies are commemorating the partnership by offering new and existing registered Movies Anywhere users a complimentary digital movie to add to their collection when they connect any digital retailer to their Movies Anywhere account for the first time. The limited-time offer is valid starting today, and ends on Sept. 9, 2020.

“We are thrilled to be able to expand our availability within the pay-TV ecosystem with the addition of another one of the nation’s largest providers,” said Karin Gilford, general manager, Movies Anywhere.

“We know DirecTV subscribers are passionate about movies and will benefit from Movie Anywhere’s ability to bring their favorite movies together. Now, they can access their collection across a multitude of devices using the Movies Anywhere app or the DirecTV platform, regardless of where they initially purchased or redeemed.”

Users have the option to choose from one of five Warner Bros. digital films—“Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,” “Smallfoot,” “The Meg,” “The Matrix” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”

Back in June, Movies Anywhere — a Disney-operated cloud-based digital locker and over-the-top streaming platform — announced they would be available on the Vizio SmartCast platform. The app, which could only be streamed to Vizio TVs via phones, now allows users to stream movies directly from their digital lockers.

Back in March, the platform was also integrated onto all LG Smart TVs. The streaming service can be found on all models from 2017 models onward, operating the webOS version 3.5 or later.
