Pluto TV Reaches 24 Million Users in Q1 2020, Showtime and CBS All Access Surpass 13.5 Million Subs
Pluto TV continues to amass new subscribers by the quarter. In their Q1 2020 earnings report, parent company ViacomCBS announced the free, ad-supported streaming service reached 24 million active monthly users. This is up from the 22 million they announced last quarter. The platform is projected to reach 30 million users by the end of 2020.
The company also revealed that Showtime “delivered its best month ever in time watched and total streams.” Along with CBS All Access, Showtime surpassed a combined 13.5 million subscribers, up 50 percent year-over-year.
In January, CBS All Access announced that the premiere of “Star Trek: Picard” helped in breaking its record for subscriber sign-ups in a month. Along with the live stream of the Grammys and football, January 2020 beat the previous monthly record of February 2019. The company also announced the week of Jan. 20 was the second-best sign-up week ever for the service. Definitive numbers were not released.
Earlier this week, Pluto TV also announced its new partnership with TiVo. The deal means the latter’s customers can seamlessly access the streamer’s channels and on-demand content and also expands Pluto’s reach.
Pluto TV will roll out in the next few weeks to customers on TiVo EDGE, TiVo’s premium, 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD), all-in-one media device. Versions are designed to work with HD antenna or digital cable. Pluto TV is also available on the upcoming TiVo Stream 4K device.
