Previously Set to Leave in July, HBO Max Extends Availability of 10 DC Movies Through December

HBO Max is extending the availability of a number of DC movies through December after initially saying they would be removed from the new streaming service July 1, the company announced Thursday.

“By popular demand,” HBO Max said, it is extending the following 10 films:

  • Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2016
  • Justice League, 2017
  • Suicide Squad, 2016
  • Superman: The Movie, 1978
  • Superman II, 1980
  • Superman III, 1983
  • Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, 1987
  • Superman: Unbound, 2013*
  • Watchmen (Movie), 2009*
  • Wonder Woman, 2017 

That means that “Batman,” “Batman Forever,” “Batman & Robin,” “Catwoman,” “Jonah Hex,” “The Lego Batman Movie,” “The Losers,” “Steel,” “Teen Titans Go! to the Movies,” and “Wonder Woman” (animated version) will still be leaving HBO Max on July 1, as previously announced.

In total, HBO Max has 31 DC movies (live-action and animated), with 25 of them available exclusively to HBO Max subscribers. Of those, there are 17 live-action DC films available on HBO Max, with 13 of them considered “Max” exclusive content.

HBO Max debuted on May 27 with the promise of an expanded library as compared to HBO, along with a slate of original television and film programming. The app has separate hubs for content like HBO, DC, Sesame Workshop, Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, CrunchyRoll, and Turner Classic Movies.
