While it has yet to be officially confirmed by AT&T, DIRECTV NOW subscribers began receiving emails tonight that the service will be raising prices by $5 a month.
The Email Reads:
At DIRECTV NOW, our passion is to deliver a one-of-a-kind entertainment streaming service at a great value. Recently, we introduced our True Cloud DVR with 20 free hours and an updated user experience. And since our launch we’ve added over 200 local channels nationwide.
In order to keep enhancements like these coming, we’re adjusting our prices. Starting 7/2018, the cost of your package will increase by $5/mo.

In a statement to FOMOPOP, an AT&T Spokesman shared the following:
In the 18 months since our launch, we have continued to evolve our DIRECTV NOW products to serve this new customer set and compare favorably with our competitors. To continue delivering the best possible streaming experience for both new and existing customers, we’re bringing the cost of this service in line with the market—which starts at a $40 price point.
The Email Sent to Subscribers
Existing subscribers will not be grandfathered at existing rates will see the increase on their next pay period.
This will also be true for subscribers on the Go Big introductory package which gave early subscribers the $60 Go Big plan for only $35 a month (which will now be $40).
With the price increase, DIRECTV NOW entry-level price is now the same as Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV, but does not include Regional Sports Networks (RSNs).
In fact, they will now become the only service without a package including RSNs under $45.
