Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” will be conducted differently from previous events. Beginning on June 29, Macy’s launched unannounced fireworks displays in neighborhoods across New York City. Each five-minute firework display showcased Macy’s signature pyrotechnic design and scale, with heights reaching up to 1,000 feet. Footage from those events will be featured along with today’s final fireworks display atop the Empire State Building.
While fireworks will, of course, take center stage, Macy’s will also bring on some entertainment. A special performance by National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman will kick off the evening, and she will be followed by the Black Eyed Peas, The Killers, Lady A, John Legend, Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley who will take the stage before the fireworks begin.
NBC News’ “Today” anchor Craig Melvin will serve as host for the evening.
