Peacock Announces Slate of Originals for Its National Launch on July 15

With a little over two months before it launches nationally, Peacock is making sure to get our attention. Today the upcoming streaming service revealed the first slate of originals available when it launches nationwide on July 15.

“Our variety of Peacock Originals at launch demonstrates how we deliver timely and timeless content – no matter the genre or format,” said Bill McGoldrick, president of original content, Peacock. “We’re proud to establish our voice and are excited to build on our strategy to attract a wide audience to Peacock.”

In the drama category, Peacock will launch with “Brave New World” and “The Capture.” “Brave New World” is based on a novel by Aldous Huxley, which imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family and history itself.

“The Capture” is a conspiracy thriller that looks at a troubling world of fake news and the extraordinary capabilities of the intelligence services.

In the comedy genre are “Intelligence,” a workplace comedy set in the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters, and “Psych 2: Lassie Come Home,” which follows the return of Shawn and Gus as they help Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton Lassiter after an ambush on the job and leaves him for dead.

For sports lovers, Peacock is offering “In Deep with Ryan Lochte,” which follows Lochte as he tries to put the 2016 Rio Olympics scandal behind him and aims to make Team USA one more time to prove he’s not the same man he was years ago. Peacock will also carry “Lost Speedways,” an exploratory look at great racing cathedrals of the past.

For kids, Peacock will premiere with “Curious George,” “Cleopatra in Space” and “Where’s Waldo?”

While it won’t be available to everyone until July, Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex customers got a three-month head start on the service. On April 15, Comcast made the streaming service available to Xfinity X1 and Flex users.
