Nothing screams Halloween quite like the Harry Potter films and Peacock will treat subscribers to all eight movies beginning in October. The movies will begin rolling out on the platform in windows and will continue to drop over the following six months, going into 2021.
“The Harry Potter franchise is beloved by people of all ages and represents the caliber of quality entertainment customers can expect to find on Peacock,” said Frances Manfredi, president, content acquisition and strategy, Peacock.
“We’ve built a world-class collection of iconic movies and shows, and we will continue to expand the film library with treasured titles from NBCUniversal and beyond that will surprise and delight Peacock customers time and time again.”
The films have been quite the hot topic lately as they were a major highlight at the launch of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max. When the streaming service came out on May 27, Potterheads were delighted to find all eight films were available as part of the service.
However, it was announced that all eight films would leave the streaming service on Aug. 25. At the time, it wasn’t clear where the films would be headed, but Peacock’s announcement today has resolved the question.
The franchise will join other hits such as “Alex Cross,” “The Big Lebowski,” “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Conjuring,” “Dolphin Tale,” “E.T.,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “Snakes on a Plane,” “Something New,” “Fast & Furious,” “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” “Get Him To The Greek,” and many more coming to Peacock over the following six months.
