Roku TV Expands Into Brazil, Partners With AOC to Bring New TVs to the Country

Roku announced today that they will expand into Brazil. The company has also partnered with AOC to bring the AOC Roku TV to the country. With the AOC Roku TV, customers have access to a “smart TV experience that is easy to use, with great streaming entertainment at an affordable value,” the company stated.

“I’m delighted to bring Roku to Brazil, one of the largest streaming markets in the world,” said Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku. “With the arrival of Roku, consumers in Brazil will now be able to enjoy their favorite TV programs and movies on the easy to use Roku platform. We want to bring streaming to everyone in Brazil.”

The new line up of AOC Roku TVs includes a 32-inch, HD TV with integrated wired and wireless connectivity and a 43-inch, FHD TV that also has integrated wired and wireless connectivity. Additional features include a display with all the entertainment options (streaming, cable/satellite, antenna) on a personalized home screen, a Roku Remote with channel shortcut buttons and a free Roku mobile app.

AOC Roku TV models will be available online on Jan. 22 in Casas Bahia, Ponto Frio and Extra, and in stores in February. The 32-inch AOC Roku TV will be $1.199,00 Reais and the 43-inch AOC Roku TV will be $1.599,00 Reais.

Roku will also bring local content to its platform with Globoplay — a Brazilian streaming platform that features international movies and TV shows. Globoplay will be one of the first local Brazilian streaming services on the Roku platform, giving users access to live TV, shows and movies, exclusive productions and original Globo content that will only be available online.

“What our customers most want is great, local content and we are thrilled to bring to Brazilian consumers the best streaming entertainment from Globo through Globoplay on the Roku platform,” said Arthur van Rest, vice president of international at Roku. “Globo is the ideal partner for us to enter the Brazilian market. With Globoplay and Roku, together we can create the ultimate living room experience by providing the best streaming content for everyone in the family.”

In addition to Globoplay, the Roku platform in Brazil includes Apple TV, BabyFirst TV, DAZN, Deezer (an audio streaming channel), Google Play, Happy Kids, HBO GO, Looke (a Brazilian streaming service) Netflix, Spotify and Playkids, a Brazilian streaming service with content for children.
