Sling TV Offers Customers One-Year Price Guarantee as Competitors Hike Prices

This week has seen a number of streaming services hiking prices. First, YouTube TV announced they were raising the price of their service to $64.99. The 30 percent price hike goes into effect immediately for existing users, and for everyone else on their next billing cycle (after July 30).

The news was then followed by fuboTV’s announcement that they increased the price of their plans by $5 a month. In the middle of it all was a report by The Verge, which said ESPN+ is raising its monthly price by $1 to $5.99.

With all these price hikes coming one after the other, Sling TV is giving their users some relief. The Dish-owned OTT service announced they will be offering a one-year $30 price guarantee for all new and existing customers. The offer is valid for both Sling Orange and Sling Blue through August 1, 2021 for new and existing customers who have accounts by August 1, 2020.

“In the current economic environment, many Americans are taking a hard look at their budgets,” stated Michael Schwimmer, group president, Sling TV. “We believe now is not the time to make our customers choose between staying informed and entertained, and putting dinner on the table. Our hope is this one-year price guarantee will bring a sense of much needed stability in a time that feels uncertain to us all.”

In addition to the one-year price guarantee, Sling TV is also offering a 14-day free trial to new customers, through July 6. The service also has a free locals solution offer going, which allows users to sign up and prepay for three months of Sling TV in order to receive an AirTV 2 with an OTA antenna, completely free.
