Dark Matter TV Review
Dark Matter TV is a free ad-supported subscription video streaming service app that includes podcasts, documentaries, television series, and feature films targeting niche audiences and only has genres like horror, science fiction, true crime, and action. A great source for alternative entertainment, Dark Matter TV allows consumers to stream content through its app and linear streaming for free on the majority of devices, TVs, and platforms.
Viewers have access to 1,000+ titles such as William Castle’s House on Haunted Hill (1959), Anna Biller’s The Love Witch (2016), David Cronenberg’s Rabid (1977), and Golden Globe-nominated feature, We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011). There are even international titles, an entire collection of Español content, and exclusive features from its horror collaborators like Arrow Video and Full Moon Features.
Dark Matter TV offers two plans —their “Ad-Supported” plan ($0) and their “Unlimited” ($4.99) plan.
Dark Matter TV launched on October 31, 2020, and has seen significant growth while also positively affecting indie film consumers in a time of an overload of mainstream content. The FAST service has expanded to Brazil, gaining close to 8 million dedicated viewers. It will soon launch in Mexico, Italy, Spain, Australia, and Germany.
We tested Dark Matter TV and other subscription streaming services for more than 100 hours. Dark Matter TV is compatible with Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, Android TV, iPhone/iPad, Android Phone/Tablet, Mac, Windows, LG Smart TV, Samsung Smart TV, Sony Smart TV and VIZIO Smart TV.
It’s hard to say **how many television series there are due to the fact that there aren’t tabs for “Movies” and “TV Shows.” Every title is separated by a uniquely named collection. There is a collection called “Strange Serials and Darkumentaries,” with unique shows like an animated short-form documentary series ‘The Twist,’ narrative sketch comedy series ‘Soul Mates,’ ‘Paranormal Encounters,’ and ‘Hidden Killers.’
Viewers can binge fan favorites, classic horrors, and many sci-fi, action, and true crime content. Popular titles include ‘Night of the Living Dead,’ ‘The Love Witch,’ ‘Nosferatu,’ and ‘House on Haunted Hill.’ There are also international (mostly European/Spanish) movies such as ‘Luciferina,’ ‘Fantastic Planet,’ ‘Catalunya Über Alles!,’ and ‘Ringu.’
Dark Matter TV hosts titles exclusively from their horror collaborators. From Arrow Video are classics such as ‘The Hills Have Eyes,’ ‘Re-Animator,’ and ‘Season of the Witch.’ From Full Moon Features, there are ‘Evil Bong 777,’ ‘Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust,’ and ‘Killjoy 3.’
