Hulu Now Available on Xfinity Flex, Coming to X1 Soon

It’s official, as of today, Hulu is now available on Comcast’s Xfinity Flex and will roll out to X1 in the coming weeks. Reports that the streaming service would be available on the platforms came out earlier this month, and today, Comcast announced their Xfinity Flex and X1 customers will have access to Hulu Originals, movies and shows, in addition to the growing collection of networks and streaming services already available to them.

In the future, Hulu will also be integrated onto the Xfinity Voice Remote, making it easier to find Hulu content. “Flex and X1 customers will also be able to find Hulu programming throughout the Flex and X1 guide featured in collections curated by our Xfinity TV editors by saying, for example, ‘New on Hulu,’ or check out our editors’ Hulu favorites by saying ‘Best of Hulu’ into the voice remote,” Comcast said in a statement.

Comcast customers should note that Hulu + Live TV subscribers won’t be able to access Live TV (or shows that are only on-demand to Hulu + Live TV customers) in the Hulu App on X1 or Xfinity Flex. Also, if you’re a subscriber to a premium channel like HBO through Hulu, you’ll be able to watch those shows and movies on-demand. Lastly, the ad load will be identical to those using Hulu on another connected TV device.

Comcast launched Xfinity Flex last March. The Flex brings together your streaming entertainment experience similar to a Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV streaming player.

Last May, Comcast and Disney announced they reached a deal for Disney to take full operational control of Hulu. Under the deal, Disney can acquire Comcast’s 33 percent stake in Hulu for no less that $9.2 billion in 2024 — giving the company a $27 billion valuation.

As part of the deal, Disney will continue to license NBCU content for Hulu at least through 2022, but the content is no longer exclusive. With Peacock, NBCU will have the option to put the content on their streaming platform. Hulu also became available on Xfinity’s X1 platform. The two companies also extended their carriage agreement for Hulu Live TV by agreeing to continue to carry NBCU channels through 2024.
