Jessica Alba (“Fantastic Four,” “Sin City”) is the latest star to sign with Netflix. She will lead the action-adventure “Trigger Warning” cast, as well as executive produce the movie.
Directed by Mouly Surya (“Marlina The Murderer in Four Acts”), “Trigger Warning” features Alba as a traumatized vet who takes over her grandfather’s bar after he dies. When she learns the circumstances surrounding his death, she confronts a moral dilemma.
Oscar-nominated Josh Olson (“A History of Violence”) and John Brancato (“Terminator Salvation”) will co-write the script.
The versatile Alba stars-executive produces “LA’s Finest” — the Spectrum Originals was renewed for a second season, premiering June 8. The actress is also committed to the upcoming Disney+ documentary series “Parenting Without Borders.” The show is based on the book by Christine Gross-Loh Ph.D., which found American kids lagging in key areas of development.
Separately, Netflix renewed a second season of “The Umbrella Academy,” which lands July 31. The first season kicked off February 2019.
The streamer also has a two-part deal with comedian Eric Andre. It will air his “Eric Andre: Legalize Everything” special on June 23. And it bought the film “Bad Trip” from MGM — in which Andre does triple duty as star, producer and co-writer.
