Kanopy Inks Two-Year Streaming Deal With Sesame Workshop, Bringing 24 Episodes to the Platform

Kanopy, the library-based free-to-the-user video streaming platform, announced today that they have inked a two-year streaming deal with Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street. The agreement allows Kanopy to feature 24 episodes from the Emmy and Grammy Award-winning program on Kanopy Kids.

“For the last 50 years, Sesame Street has influenced generations around the world by leading educational growth and social change,” Kanopy CEO, Kevin Sayar stated. “We are elated to work with Sesame Workshop and reach new audiences with the timeless series, while reinforcing Kanopy Kids’ mission to encourage social and emotional development, promote respect for community diversity and inspire creativity.”

Starting today, Kanopy Kids viewers can watch 24 episodes from season 39 and 40 of the hit show.

In October, Sesame Workshop also inked a five-year deal with HBO Max to bring the entire Sesame Street library to a streaming service for the first time. The deal brings five new 35-episode seasons of Sesame Street, four new live-action and animated series, (including an Elmo-hosted talk show and an animated Sesame Street spinoff), annual specials, and the show’s 50-year library, which includes more than 4,500 episodes to the platform.

Users can access episodes via Kanopy Kids by visiting www.kanopy.com and signing up through a partnered public or academic library in their area.
