Peacock Will Give Users Free Access to NBC Sports’ Premier League Coverage to Celebrate Launch
A week from its national launch, Peacock is making sure to give users content they will love. The streamer announced today that in celebration of the launch on July 15, Peacock will grant free access to NBC Sports’ full Premier League match and studio coverage.
The streamer will serve as the exclusive home for all free NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage featuring four matches as well as all studio programming, including prematch, halftime and postgame coverage. To make the presentation even sweeter, NBC Sports’ six hours of coverage will be presented with no commercials.
“Live sports makes Peacock unique among streaming services, and we are excited to present a free sample of matches to Premier League fans across the U.S.,” said Rick Cordella, EVP and chief revenue officer, Peacock.
The four matches slated to take place next Wednesday are Burnley vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers; Manchester City vs. Bournemouth; Newcastle v. Tottenham; and Arsenal v. Liverpool. Coverage will begin at 12 p.m. ET with “Premier League Live” and close out at 6 p.m. with “Goal Zone.”
Though Peacock will serve as host to NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage next week, NBC Sports Gold subscribers will still have access next Wednesday, as they have had access since the 2019-20 season restarted.
News that Peacock will be streaming Premier League games first came out in January. At the time, NBC revealed that customers of Peacock Premium, which is $4.99 a month (or free for Xfinity and Cox customers), will be able to stream Premier League games that aren’t airing on NBC’s linear channels like NBC and NBC Sports Network.
According to NBCU, starting in August 2020, soccer fans will be treated to 2,000 hours of Premier League coverage, including more than 140 matches that aren’t available on television, as well as clips and replays of the most exciting moments from the pitch.
