ESPN+ to Increase to $5.99 a Month Starting Next Week

It’s official, ESPN+ is increasing it’s monthly price by 20% from $4.99 to $5.99 for new subscribers beginning on August 12th. Existing monthly subscribers will stay at their $4.99 monthly price for one year.

Both the annual price of $49.99 per year and Disney Bundle of $12.99 a month (which includes Disney+ and Hulu), will remain unchanged. The Verge first reported the news of the possible increase in late-June.

ESPN+ launched in April 2018 and includes a slate of college sports and mostly off-major sports leagues. Earlier in June, ESPN announced that ESPN+ would air featured hole coverage from the remainder of the 2019-20 PGA Tour.

The service had 2.2 million subscribers in March 2019, but had racked up 8.5 million by late-June this year following the launch of the Disney bundle deal.

The ESPN+ price hike comes at an interesting time, with the possibility of having college sports in the fall in limbo. However, the service has begun to see sports comeback with the addition of PGA Tour Live, as well as their daily MLB out-of-market telecast.
