The NBA tips off its 2021-22 campaign with a doubleheader of epic proportions, featuring three recent title winners and a team that has its eyes set on the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The league’s opening game will feature the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks taking on the Brooklyn Nets, while the nightcap will feature the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers. Opening Night Preview

The Bucks capped off last season with the team’s first NBA Championship since 1971 and the coronation of franchise stalwart Giannis Antetokounmpo as perhaps the league’s best player. The Bucks begin their title defense against the team they knocked out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets have been the subject of constant media coverage, as star Kyrie Irving continues to be a source of frustration amongst his fellow stars Kevin Durant and James Harden, as well as his team’s management. Can the Nets figure it out and bring a title back to New York? They’ll have their hands full with the defending champs in their opening contest.

The late game marks the next step in the Steph Curry/LeBron James rivalry, which has been accelerated since James joined the Lakers back in 2019. The Warriors aren’t quite the dynasty they were a few years ago but a healthy Klay Thompson should do wonders for this team’s success moving forward. L

ike the Nets, they’ll have a great opportunity to test themselves against the Lakers, who won the NBA Championship the season before the Bucks but were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the playoffs. The Lakers were sans Anthony Davis during that series but expect to have him ready to go for the start of this season.
