After the announcement this morning that Netflix will raise the price of their service nearly 20% (from $11 to $13), many speculated whether T-Mobile would continue to include the service for free. At least for now, it appears they will.
On Twitter, T-Mobile CEO John Legere shared:
“Today Netflix let us know they’re increasing prices. Good news: #NetflixOnUs won’t change for now. It’s still on us! We’re working with Netflix to determine what impact, if any, this may have down the road. We will know more by 5/1!”
T-Mobile launched Netflix On Us in September 2017 and included a free Netflix standard subscription (two simultaneous users in HD) with two or more lines of T-Mobile One. The following month Netflix raised the price of their service from $9.99 to $10.99, but T-Mobile covered the higher price.
There have been rumors that T-Mobile will be launching their own TV Streaming Service in 2019. The company may be waiting for their own streaming plan to launch before removing the Netflix perk.
