As people are spending time at home because of the coronavirus, TV usage has risen over the course of the several past weeks. Because of this, VIZIO has launched 30 new free linear TV channels to its SmartCast TVs. The 24-hour streaming channels will give users access to content spanning news, entertainment, lifestyle, DIY, sports, comedy, music and more.
“More people are discovering our free content offerings and making them part of their daily routines right now,” said Mike O’Donnell, SVP, platform business. “We recognize the important role that TV plays in the home, especially when families are being asked to stay inside. It’s important for us to deliver popular content to consumers and we are focused on continually expanding additional free and premium options for our VIZIO SmartCast TV customers.”
As of today, Vizio SmartCast TV owners now have access to content from channels such as USA Today, CBC News, USA Today Sportswire, Fubo Sports Network, TMZ, Hollywire, among others. To access the free channels, users can simply go to the “Free Channels” tab located on the SmartCast Home screen.
Earlier this year, Vizio added Disney+ to VIZIO Smart TVs with the latest update to their SmartCast Platform. The update allows viewers to launch the app and search for Disney+ content directly from the SmartCast home screen. Previously, VIZIO users were able to stream Disney+ on SmartCast through Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast built-in.
