YouTube TV Reaches Deal with ViacomCBS to Add MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Nick, VH1 & More to Streaming Service
In December, Viacom and CBS merged to bring together CBS and Viacom’s portfolio of networks. They have now reached a deal with YouTube TV to bring Viacom’s channels including BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1 to the service this summer.
“We are thrilled to have reached an expanded agreement with YouTube TV that recognizes the full power of our newly combined portfolio as ViacomCBS,” said Ray Hopkins, President, U.S. Networks Distribution, ViacomCBS.
YouTube TV already carried CBS broadcast stations, CBS Sports Network, PopTV, Smithsonian Channel, The CW, and Showtime (as as add-on) which are also included in the multi-year deal. BET Her, MTV2, Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, and MTV Classic will also be available on the service at a later date.
“We’re excited to launch ViacomCBS’ portfolio on YouTube TV this summer,” said Lori Conkling, Global Head of Partnerships at YouTube TV. “Our expanded partnership delivers on our promise to offer a premium portfolio of content to our YouTube TV subscribers, as well as across the YouTube platforms.”
YouTube TV has yet to say whether a price hike is coming as a result of the new additions. Last April, the company added Discovery channels to the streaming service, but that came with a $10 price bump. They recently renewed a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group for Fox Sports RSNs, but dropped YES Network, Fox Sports West, Fox Sports Prime Ticket, and carriage in secondary markets.
With the new agreement, ViacomCBS networks are now carried on fuboTV, Philo, AT&T TV NOW, Sling TV — in addition to YouTube TV. This means that the only Live TV Streaming Service without Viacom’s channels is Hulu Live TV, which has 3.3 million subscribers, the largest amongst the group. They do carry CBS networks.
