More than 200 classic ‘Sesame Street’ episodes streaming on Tubi
The free service is now offering a huge selection of nostalgic “Sesame Street” episodes.
Perhaps it’s an old-fashioned idea, but access to “Sesame Street” should always be free, in my opinion. As someone who grew up watching the ubiquitous kids’ series on PBS, I think there’s something fundamentally off about any streaming service charging to access the show. That’s why I have nothing but applause for Tubi, which is rolling out more than 200 classic “Sesame Street” episodes to stream for free on Wednesday.
Key Details:
- New street: Tubi is welcoming 250 episodes of “Sesame Street.”
- Iconic moments: Tubi audiences will get to see the first episode of the series and other classic moments.
- Other outlets: Fans can also stream “Sesame Street” on Netflix and [HBO Max].
Starting April 1, viewers will be able to stream a selection of 250 classic “Sesame Street” episodes on Tubi. Premiering in 1969, the series has educated and delighted children for more than half a century, and now a whole new audience will be able to stream the show.
Each quarter, Tubi will refresh 10% of its “Sesame Street” inventory, clearing out 25 episodes to make room for 25 new ones. Classic episodes like the show’s debut, a visit from R2-D2 and C-3PO of Star Wars fame, and Big Bird’s vacation to Hawaii are now available.
“Few brands have shaped young minds and sparked imagination quite like ‘Sesame Street,’” Tubi executive Adam Lewinson said. “By bringing hundreds of episodes to Tubi for free, we’re giving today’s kids access to joyful, foundational learning while inviting parents to share a piece of their own childhood with the next generation. It’s a powerful example of how Tubi connects audiences through stories that stay with you for life, making meaningful, educational entertainment accessible to all.”
Those who want to expand beyond Tubi’s inventory of episodes can watch the newest season of “Sesame Street” with a subscription to Netflix. Fans can also stream 20 seasons of the show with an HBO Max subscription, and PBS Kids linear and digital platforms still offer the series as well.
“For more than 55 years, ‘Sesame Street’ has been making trusted, joyful learning accessible to every child,” Sesame Workshop’s Joseph Giraldi said. “Bringing ‘Sesame Street’ to Tubi allows us to expand our reach and impact - and we are thrilled that our beloved characters and proven educational media will now be available to even more children, families, and fans.”
Tubi
Tubi is a free video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 200,000+ movies and TV episodes - more than any other streaming service. Its ad breaks are shorter and less frequent than most free services. Fox executives have called their service “TV on steroids.”
