Local Availability

Even if a service offers live local channels, it may not offer the channels in your area. If you live in an area without live local channels, you still can still access the on demand content after it airs.

To see the local channels available in your area, we suggest that you enter your Zip Code in our Local Channel Finder.

Missing Channels

If you subscribe to a plan that doesn’t offer CBS, consider subscribing to CBS All Access $5.99. It’s a monthly subscription directly from CBS, which includes live streaming and on demand access for many of its shows.

You can get free access to CW shows with The CW apps with no subscription needed.

Top Cable Channels

Most Live TV Streaming Services include 25-35 Top Cable Channels from Disney, Discovery, ViacomCBS, Hallmark, A+E, and AMC.

fuboTV ($55) has 24 Top Cable Channels. They recently announced that they will be adding ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Disney Channel, FX, Nat Geo in August, while dropped Turner-owned channels (TNT, TBS, CNN, etc.). With the new channels, they will have 29 of the Top 35 Cable Channels.

YouTube TV ($65) recently added channels from Viacom (MTV, Comedy Central, VH1), so they now offer 31 Top Cable Channels. They are missing channels from A&E, History, Lifetime, and Hallmark.

Hulu Live TV ($55) includes 26. They are missing channels from Viacom like MTV, Comedy Central, as well as AMC, WE tv, and Hallmark. At $55, they are $10 cheaper than YouTube TV and include Hulu Originals and on-demand library.

Since AT&T TV NOW ($55+) launched their new MAX and PLUS plan, they now have the weakest overall channel lineup, with just 23 of the Top 35 Cable Channels. The service is missing channels from AMC, A+E, and Discovery.

The two best value offerings are Philo ($20) with 18 Top Cable Channels or Sling TV’s “Blue” plan, which includes 25 top cable channels Top Cable Channels for just ($30+) a month.

Sports Channels

Sports fans tend to have different needs; some want national sports channels like ESPN and TNT, but others want regional sports networks like YES Network, Fox Sports Detroit, or NBC Sports Bay Area.

With the shutdown of PlayStation Vue’s “Core” $55 plan, there fuboTV is the best replacement for most sports fans.

While fuboTV includes some RSNs including hard-to-get ones like MSG, NESN, and [AT&T SportsNet Houston], it’s currently without those from Fox Sports. It is also one of the only service with NFL Network, NFL RedZone, NBA TV, MLB Network, and NHL Network.

If you don’t need a Fox Sports RSN, TNT, or TBS, there is no better plan for sports than fuboTV.

Sling TV is the best budget option for sports fans but includes ESPN in Sling Orange and NBCSN, FS1, and NBC Sports RSNs in Sling Blue. You can also add the Sports Extra pack ($10) to add channels like NHL Network, College Sports networks like SEC Network, ACC Network, and Pac-12 Network.

They recently dropped NFL Network and NFL RedZone, but hope to add it by football season.

If you want to watch Fox Sports RSNs, you will need Hulu Live TV or AT&T TV NOW, which also include national sports channels like ESPN, FS1, NBCSN, TNT, and TBS. YouTube TV recently dropped YES Network, Fox Sports West, and Fox Sports Prime Ticket, but carry Fox Sports RSNs in some other markets.

National Sports Channels

Most services include ESPN/ESPN2, NBCSN, FS1/FS2, TBS, and TNT in their basic packages. fuboTV announced ESPN will be coming to the service this summer.

Regional Sports Networks (RSNs)

fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV “Blue”, and YouTube TV offer regional sports networks (RSNs) in their base plans. AT&T TV NOW requires an upgrade plan to access RSNs.

Due to contract disputes, fuboTV and Sling TV currently carry Fox Sports RSNs. YouTube TV no longer carries some of those RSNs including YES Network, Fox Sports West, and Fox Sports Prime Ticket.

fuboTV and Sling TV are the only providers of Pac-12 Network. It’s included in fuboTV base Plan ($55) or as part of Sling TV’s “Sports Extra” $5/$10 pack.

Hulu Live TV, fuboTV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV all offer Showtime for $10–$11 a month, or you could subscribe to Showtime on Amazon for the same price.

Philo now offers EPIX ($6) and STARZ ($9) as add-ons to the their service.
