What kind of audio accessibility options are available on Philo?

What kind of audio accessibility options are available on Philo?

Philo offers both free and paid streaming options, but what kind of audio accessibility choices does it provide?

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
Philo doesn't come with any language dub options in its free service.

Philo is one of the coolest live TV streaming services available. It’s a trade-off that many cable customers are all too happy to accept; Philo doesn’t offer any live sports channels or local broadcast networks in its packages, but it does carry an intriguing lineup of cable entertainment channels, like AMC, Food Network, Nickelodeon, and more.

Philo even comes with a free streaming service packed with FAST channels and on-demand content, but does it offer that content in any languages besides English? We’ll run through the audio accessibility choices found on Philo below to help you answer that question.

Everything you need to know about audio accessibility on Philo

Does Philo offer any dub options on its free service?

Although Philo has a good range of free content to watch for customers who don’t have paid plans, it does not offer any overdub languages other than English, from what I could see. In my customary test of 10 titles on the service, I didn’t find a single one that offered non-English dubs, much like my experiences with other free streaming platforms.

You can get audio descriptions with your Philo free account, however. Go to your account avatar, then click Settings. Scroll down to the Preferences section, and toggle audio descriptions on or off if you want them.

We have reached out to Philo for more details on whether Philo offers different dub languages for on-demand content in its paid plan, and we will update this article when we get a reply.

Does Philo come with any on-demand titles in other languages?

Some free streamers come with sections of content in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, or other global languages. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any non-English titles in the Philo free library of titles.

Does Philo offer any non-English FAST channels?

Many free services come with a selection of free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels in Spanish or other options. The Latination channel is available on Philo’s free service, but I didn’t see a wide selection of alternate choices for non-English viewers to enjoy.

Philo

Philo is a live TV streaming service designed for entertainment lovers, offering flexible ways to watch without the high price of traditional TV bundles. The service now features two paid plans — Essential and Bundle+ — alongside its existing free streaming offering, giving customers a range of options depending on how much live and premium content they want.

…

The Essential plan costs $25 per month and includes 70+ live TV channels focused on entertainment and lifestyle programming, such as AMC, HGTV, Hallmark Channel, Nickelodeon, and Food Network. Subscribers also get access to 120+ free streaming channels, more than 80,000 movies and shows on demand, and unlimited DVR with one-year storage. Essential also includes a 7-day free trial for new customers.

For viewers who want more premium content, Philo offers the Bundle+ plan for $33 per month (formerly the Philo Core plan). Bundle+ includes everything in Essential, plus ad-supported AMC+ and access to the HBO Max (Basic with Ads) app. Users can also access discovery+ content directly within the Philo app. While Bundle+ adds a full premium streaming bundle for just $8 more per month, it does not include a free trial.

The service is available on most major devices, including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, smart TVs, mobile devices, and web browsers. In addition to its paid plans, Philo also offers a free ad-supported streaming experience, allowing users to explore content before deciding whether to upgrade to a live TV subscription.

While it doesn’t include local broadcast stations or sports networks like ESPN, FS1 or NBC Sports Network, Philo remains one of the most affordable live TV streaming options for entertainment-focused viewers. With a simple lineup, generous DVR storage, and a clear path from free streaming to live TV and premium bundles, Philo is an appealing choice for cord-cutters who want to keep costs down while still enjoying a wide range of popular programming.
