These are the new shows and movies I’m pumped to stream in July
A genre-bending vampire flick, a dark dating thriller, and another action comedy on Prime Video — July’s stacked.
There’s a lot dropping across the streamers this month, and while my taste usually leans more comedic — stuff like “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is always top-tier for me — this July lineup has a nice mix of tones. A few darker picks made the cut, but there’s still plenty of wild buddy comedy, big-budget sci-fi, and straight-up ridiculous fun… including the sequel to one of the best sport-comedy movies ever made. So if you’re looking for something new to stream, here are the shows and movies across all of the major streamers I’m actually pumped to watch in July.
Top title on each streamer for the month of July, 2025:
‘Suspicious Minds’ | Series | Disney+

Not gonna lie, there’s not a ton on Disney+ this month that’s grabbing me — but one upcoming release did catch my eye. “Suspicious Minds” is a Spanish-language heist series that looks like it could be a fun surprise. It’s about a thief named Amber who shows up on Isla Esperanza to steal a valuable tiara, only to cross paths with her ex and former partner, Rui — the same guy who betrayed her years ago. Now they’re stuck having to work together again, and obviously, nothing goes as planned. I’m into the vibe: romance, betrayal, tropical setting, and maybe some stylish chaos. It drops on Thursday, July 10 on Disney+.
Suspicious Minds
Amber, a brilliant thief, arrives on Isla Esperanza with the aim of stealing the valuable Tiara of Santa Águeda, but her plan is complicated by the unexpected reappearance of Rui, her former partner who did not hesitate to betray her in the past. Now, the hardest thing will be to trust each other and accept that love may be the biggest treasure of their lives.
‘Sinners’ | Movie | HBO Max

My wife and I caught “Sinners” in the theater, and we loved it. This really feels like the year of genre-bending, and Coogler delivers something wild — part historical drama, part horror flick, part musical… and yep, it’s a vampire movie too. It’s fun, scary, visually stunning, and full of standout performances. The story follows twin brothers trying to outrun their past, only to find out something much darker is waiting for them back home. If you’re into ambitious swings that actually hit it out of the park, you’ve found your movie. It drops Friday, July 4 on HBO Max.
Sinners
Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
‘The Luckiest Man in America’ | Movie | AMC+

I’m a sucker for any story where a regular dude finds a loophole and goes all in — and “The Luckiest Man in America” is exactly that kind of movie. Based on a true story, it follows Michael Larson, an unemployed ice cream truck driver who figured out how to game the system on the ’80s game show Press Your Luck — and walked away with a fortune. But once the producers catch on, it turns into a whole different kind of high-stakes game. Paul Walter Hauser (of “Black Bird”) leads a killer cast that also includes Walton Goggins and Maisie Williams. It drops Friday, July 4 on AMC+.
The Luckiest Man in America
1984; Michael Larson, an unemployed ice-cream truck driver from Ohio, steps onto the game show “Press Your Luck” harboring a secret: the key to endless amounts of money. But his winning streak is threatened when the executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.
‘Drop’ | Movie | Peacock

I missed “Drop” when it hit theaters earlier this year, and my wife and I almost rented it the other night — but honestly didn’t feel like dropping the six bucks. Glad we waited, because it’s finally landing on Peacock on Friday, July 11. I’m always down for a dark, twisty thriller — especially one with a messed-up dating game vibe — and we both love Meghann Fahy, so we’re basically winning. She plays a widowed mom who goes on her first date in years, only to get hit with creepy phone messages showing someone breaking into her house. What follows is a tense, night-long spiral where she’s forced to follow orders… including one that might turn deadly. This movie is from the guy who directed one of my favorite horror comedies, “Happy Death Day,” so you know it’s gonna mess with your head in a fun way.
Drop
Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry, is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.
‘Foundation’ Season 3 | Series | Apple TV+

I’m always down for a big, brainy sci-fi epic, and “Foundation” definitely fits the bill. Season 3 picks up 152 years after the last season (classic “Foundation” move), and everything’s falling apart — again. The Empire’s crumbling, Demerzel’s running the show with the Prime Radiant, and now there’s a mind-controlling warlord called the Mule who’s ready to take over the galaxy. Meanwhile, Gaal and Hari are just waking up from cryosleep, trying to rally the Second Foundation before it’s too late. It’s dense, it’s ambitious, and it’s the kind of show that rewards paying attention. New episodes start Friday, July 11 on Apple TV+.
Foundation
Follow a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.
‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 17 | Series | Hulu

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” isn’t just one of the best comedies on Hulu — it’s one of my top five shows of all time. Right up there with “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” There’s no growth, no life lessons — just five terrible people running a bar and somehow getting worse every season, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Even after 16 seasons, the gang keeps finding new ways to be unhinged, selfish, and painfully funny. Season 17 premieres Wednesday, July 9 on FX, with new episodes hitting Hulu the next day, Thursday, July 10.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Four egocentric friends run a neighborhood Irish pub in Philadelphia and try to find their way through the adult world of work and relationships. Unfortunately, their warped views and precarious judgments often lead them to trouble, creating a myriad of uncomfortable situations that usually only get worse before they get better.
‘Happy Gilmore 2’ | Movie | Netflix

“Happy Gilmore” was the defining sports comedy of my generation. It’s funny, totally unhinged, and peak Adam Sandler — and honestly, it might be the best sports comedy ever made. So yeah, I’m all in on the sequel. “Happy Gilmore 2” drops Friday, July 25 on Netflix, and Sandler’s back as Happy, older but definitely not wiser. He’s joined by Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald (yep, that’s Shooter McGavin), and a ridiculous lineup of new faces, including Bad Bunny, Eric André, and Post Malone. No idea what the plot is yet, but honestly, I don’t care. I’m just here for more mega-long drives, unhinged insults (“I eat pieces of sh$t like you for breakfast,” … “You eat sh$t for breakfast?”), and whatever chaos Sandler brings to the green this time.
Happy Gilmore 2
Happy Gilmore isn’t done with golf — not by a long shot. Since his retirement after his first Tour Championship win, Gilmore returns to finance his daughter’s ballet classes.
‘Dexter: Resurrection’ | Series | Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

It’s wild to think the original “Dexter” premiered nearly 20 years ago — and even wilder that we’re still not done with the story. I was into the original run (even if it got messy at times), and I’m very interested to see how much more blood they can drain from this franchise (see what I did there?). “Dexter: Resurrection” is the newest installment, and yeah, the title kind of says it all. Somehow, Dexter survived that final gunshot from Harrison in “New Blood,” and now he’s waking up in a hospital bed — alone, confused, and determined to find his son. It picks up just weeks after “New Blood” ended and takes the story to New York City. I have no clue how they’re pulling this off, but I’m in. It drops on Friday, July 11 on [Paramount+ Premium].
Dexter: Resurrection
Dexter Morgan awakens from a coma to find Harrison gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined - and that the only way out is together.
‘Heads of State’ | Movie | Prime Video

If you’ve been reading my stuff for a while, you know action comedies are one of my favorite genres, and lately, Prime Video has been the first app I open to look for one. First there was “The Fall Guy,” then the total chaos of “Deep Cover,” and now they’re dropping “Heads of State” on Wednesday, July 2. This one pairs John Cena and Idris Elba as rival world leaders caught in the middle of a global conspiracy. It sounds ridiculous — and I mean that as a compliment. After a coordinated terrorist attack leaves them stranded and cut off from their teams, they’re forced to team up (and bicker) their way across international borders with MI6 agent Priyanka Chopra Jonas keeping them in line. You’ve got shootouts, chase scenes, political jabs, and two big egos trying to play action hero — it’s exactly the kind of loud, fast, unhinged buddy comedy movie I love.
Heads of State
The UK Prime Minister and US President have a public rivalry that risks their countries’ alliance. But when they become targets of a powerful enemy, they’re forced to rely on each other as they go on a wild, multinational run. Allied with Noel, a brilliant MI6 agent, they must find a way to thwart a conspiracy that threatens the free world.
