The best way to watch every ‘Star Trek’ series and movie is right here
From Kirk to Burnham, every era of Trek lives on Paramount+.
Growing up, there was only one show my parents would let me stay up to watch with them from the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. timeslot. That show was “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” And so began my love affair with “Star Trek.” Captain Picard, Data, Worf — all of them felt like regulars in our living room. The show didn’t just have cool ships and alien planets; it tackled big ideas and never dumbed anything down. And Patrick Stewart? He made every speech feel like it actually mattered. Even now, the show holds up. If you’re a “Star Trek” fan and want to “boldly go where no one has gone before,” there’s really only one streamer you need – Paramount+. Here’s why it’s the best streamer for Star Trek fans.
Everything you need to know about the best streamer for ‘Star Trek’ fans.
What ‘Star Trek’ TV shows can you watch on Paramount+?

If you’re a Star Trek fan, Paramount+ is your home base. It’s the only place where you can stream every era of the franchise, from the TV shows that start it all to the newest shows still rolling out fresh episodes. It all starts with “Star Trek: The Original Series,” the show that introduces the world to Kirk, Spock, and the idea of boldly going where no one has gone before. It’s ambitious, weird, and totally original for its time, and even decades later, it still feels iconic.
Then there’s the short-lived but underrated “Star Trek: The Animated Series,” which keeps the spirit of the original alive with some trippy, out-there adventures. But for a lot of fans (including me), it’s “Star Trek: The Next Generation” that really takes things to another level. With Picard in the captain’s chair and a crew that feels like family, “TNG” mixes big philosophical questions with classic sci-fi drama, and it still hits just as hard today.
After “TNG,” Trek hits its stride with a run of shows that get a little more serialized and a lot more complex. “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” flips the script by staying in one place and diving deep into politics, religion, and war. It’s darker, more layered, and way ahead of its time. “Star Trek: Voyager” takes us to the other side of the galaxy with Captain Janeway leading her crew through unknown territory, trying to find their way home. And “Star Trek: Enterprise” looks back at the early days of space exploration, before the Federation, before the rules, when everything still feels risky and new.

Fast-forward to the streaming era, and Trek is coming back in a big way. “Star Trek: Discovery” kicks off the modern reboot with a new look, new tone, and a fresh approach to storytelling — more cinematic, more serialized, and way more action-packed. “Star Trek: Short Treks” offers quick little side stories that fill in gaps or give us glimpses into corners of the universe we haven’t seen before. And “Star Trek: Picard” brings back the legend himself, now older, wiser, and dealing with the fallout of the choices he’s made.
But the franchise is still branching out in even more directions. “Star Trek: Lower Decks” goes full animation comedy, following the low-ranking crew members just trying to survive their weird, chaotic day jobs. “Star Trek: Prodigy” is also animated but aimed at younger viewers, bringing the heart and adventure of classic Trek.
Keep in mind that Season 1 of this show is on Paramount+, while the second season is on Netflix. “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” leans back into the episodic, character-driven style of the originals — and it’s probably the closest thing we’ve had to that classic feel in years. And coming soon is “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” a brand-new series set to explore what it’s like to train the next generation of explorers. Basically, no matter what kind of “Star Trek” fan you are, Paramount+ has something for you.

What ‘Star Trek’ movies can you watch on Paramount+?

If you thought Paramount+ only has the “Star Trek” TV shows, you are wrong. All the movies are here too, and the original crew sets the stage for everything that follows. It all begins with “Star Trek: The Motion Picture,” a slow-burn visual feast that feels more like cerebral sci-fi than action-adventure. But things really kick into gear with “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” a revenge-fueled classic that raises the stakes and delivers one of the most emotional endings in Trek history.
That leads right into “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock” and “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home,” which double down on friendship, sacrifice, and (yes) time-traveling whales. “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier” gets a little weird with its “God at the center of the galaxy” plot, and “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country” closes out the original crew’s run with Cold War metaphors and a killer murder mystery.
Next up, the Next Generation crew takes over the big screen, and the tone shifts to match. “Star Trek: Generations” bridges the gap between old and new, bringing Kirk and Picard together for a time-bending mission. “Star Trek: First Contact” is a fan favorite for a reason — it’s intense, emotional, and gives us the best look at the Borg on film.
“Star Trek: Insurrection” dials things back for a more philosophical adventure about resisting oppression, and “Star Trek: Nemesis” brings a darker, more action-heavy story as Picard faces off against a younger clone of himself. These films dig into the legacy of “TNG” and give its characters some big cinematic moments to shine.

In 2009, the timeline splits and Trek gets a full reboot with J.J. Abrams’ at the helm. “Star Trek” kicks off the new Kelvin Timeline with recast versions of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and the rest of the crew — bringing a slick, high-energy vibe to the franchise.
“Star Trek Into Darkness” doubles down on the action and reimagines Khan for a new generation, while “Star Trek Beyond” feels like a big-budget episode from the original series in the best way possible. These movies are flashier and louder, but still packed with heart, humor, and the spirit of exploration that’s always defined Trek.
If you’re more into the behind-the-scenes or fan culture side of things, there are a few great documentaries worth checking out too. “Building Star Trek” looks at the real-world science inspired by the series. “Woman in Motion” celebrates Nichelle Nichols and her work recruiting astronauts for NASA. And new in 2025? “
Star Trek: Section 31,” starring Michelle Yeoh, takes us into the covert side of the Federation. Whether you love classic adventures, deep-cut docs, or what’s next, Paramount+ is clearly the best streamer for all things “Star Trek.”
