Here’s why Hulu + Live TV is our top choice to watch Wimbledon

Here’s why Hulu + Live TV is our top choice to watch Wimbledon

There are lots of ways to watch The Championships, Wimbledon without cable, but Hulu + Live TV is a clear cut above in our eyes.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

The 2025 tennis season is off and running, and the next Grand Slam tournament of the year will take place at Wimbledon. The tournament will play out on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, and ESPN+ will provide first ball to last ball coverage of the tournament every day during the fortnight. There is a wide range of services that carry the linear channels covering The Championships, but there’s one we think is far ahead of the rest: Hulu + Live TV. Keep reading to see why we think Hulu + Live TV is the top option for watching Wimbledon this year.

Why watch Wimbledon 2025 on Hulu + Live TV?

What linear channels carrying Wimbledon coverage does Hulu + Live TV have?

Hulu + Live TV carries ESPN and ESPN2 in its base channel package in all areas, and it also carries ABC in practically every market in the country. That means that you’ll be able to watch all coverage of the tournament appearing on linear TV with a Hulu + Live TV subscription in most parts of the United States.

If you’re a Spanish-language viewer, you’ll want to check out ESPN’s coverage of the tournament on ESPN Deportes. That can be found in the Español add-on channel package on Hulu + Live TV, which can be had for an additional $5 per month on top of the base package price.

Get more coverage with ESPN+

Each and every day of Wimbledon, ESPN+ will offer first ball to last ball coverage from all 18 courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. It will also serve as the home for on-demand viewing of replays, as well as a daily one-hour highlights show and more Wimbledon content. True completists won’t want to risk going into the Wimbledon tournament without an ESPN+ subscription; it will have literally all the action a fan could want.

Normally, ESPN+ costs $12 per month on its own, or $17 per month as part of the Disney Bundle with Disney+ and Hulu. However, all Hulu + Live TV plans starting at $83 per month come with the Disney Bundle included at no extra cost, so you’ll get ESPN+’s coverage of the tournament free with Hulu + Live TV!

How does Hulu + Live TV compare to other services?

Hulu + Live TV isn’t the only streaming service that carries the linear channels needed to watch Wimbledon — but it is our favorite. Comparing it to other streamers that offer Wimbledon coverage only confirms that choice.

Let’s start with DIRECTV. This service offers its MySports Genre Pack with ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 for $70 per month, and it also includes ESPN+ in its price. But for an extra $13, Hulu + Live TV delivers more than 60 channels you won’t get with MySports, as well as Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions.

Fubo comes with more regional sports channels than Hulu + Live TV, but its Pro plan is more expensive than Hulu + Live TV’s base package at $85 per month. The sports-focused streamer also comes with a regional sports fee for most customers that bump the price over $100 per month, but still doesn’t include ESPN+.

Sling TV’s Orange base package comes with ESPN and ESPN2 for $46 per month, but doesn’t include ABC. In fact, Sling only carries ABC in a small number of markets. It does offer ESPN3 with the Sling Orange plan, which offers live sports programming found on ABC. However, Hulu + Live TV comes with all of these channels with no hassle, and Sling doesn’t include any on-demand streaming access, or ESPN+/

Finally, YouTube TV comes with the same starting price as Hulu + Live TV at $83 per month. But there’s no ESPN+ access with YouTube TV, which is the main reason we can’t recommend it over Hulu + Live TV.

Can you watch Wimbledon free on Hulu + Live TV?

Not the whole tournament, but if you’re a new customer, you can watch the start of Wimbledon at no cost. It comes with a three-day free trial for all new subscribers, so you’ll get 72 hours of no-cost access to Wimbledon and all the other programming you can watch with a Hulu + Live TV subscription.

Can you watch Wimbledon while traveling with Hulu + Live TV?

If you’ll be away from home and can’t watch Wimbledon as you normally would, you can still catch all of the action no matter where you are with a VPN. A VPN can be used on your phone, tablet, or computer and make you appear to be back home, even when you’re not, ensuring you feel at home no matter where you are. A VPN is a safe and secure way to stay protected online while streaming your favorite sports, movies, and shows on the go. Remember that you will still need to be subscribed to a live TV streaming service like Hulu + Live TV to stream the tournament with a VPN.

Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.

…

Where it really separates itself is value. Your subscription doesn’t just cover live TV — it also includes full access to Hulu’s on-demand library, plus bundled subscriptions to Disney+ and ESPN Select content at no extra cost. That means you’re getting everything from next-day network TV episodes and Hulu Originals, to Marvel, Star Wars, and live sports content all in one place without juggling multiple bills.

For sports fans, Hulu + Live TV also includes regional sports networks (RSNs) in select areas, a feature many competing services have dropped. That can be a big deal if you’re trying to follow local MLB, NBA, or NHL teams.

The DVR experience is another strong point. Subscribers get unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to fast-forward through commercials on recorded content — a feature that used to cost extra but is now standard. It’s designed to feel closer to a traditional cable DVR, just without the box.

If you want to customize further, several add-ons are available. You can upgrade to premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, add an unlimited streams option for households with lots of viewers, or go ad-free on Hulu’s on-demand content (live TV will still include ads).

Overall, Hulu + Live TV is less about being the cheapest option and more about being the most comprehensive. It’s built for people who want live TV, on-demand shows, and bundled streaming services all under one roof — without having to piece everything together themselves.
