Fans of the “Quiet Place” saga have waited four years for the newest installment in the franchise. It’s finally here, and “A Quiet Place: Day One”, a spin-off prequel to the first film in the series is arriving in cinemas around the United States on Friday, June 28.
Key Details:
- “A Quiet Place: Day One” has been a hit with critics and audiences alike.
- The movie is being distributed by Paramount, so it will be sent to Paramount+ first after its theatrical window.
- Paramount usually does not force audiences to wait long for new movies on streaming, but “A Quiet Place: Day One” could be an exception.
“A Quiet Place: Day One” follows Sam and Eric, two visitors to New York City. During their stay, a series of meteor-like objects crash into the ground, but to the horror of the city’s residents they turn out to be vicious and heavily-armored extra-terrestrials who are attracted by even the slightest noise. Will the pair, along with Sam’s cat Frodo survive?
The movie has been a hit with reviewers, as well as audiences who have managed to catch preview screenings of “A Quiet Place: Day One.” It’s got an 86% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes as of now, along with an audience score of 70%. The performances of Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn have been singled out for praise, as has the film’s story, which introduces plenty of fresh elements to a formula that could easily have gotten stale.

When Will ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Stream on Paramount+?
“A Quiet Place: Day One” will likely feature plenty of jump scares, and if those tend to make you shriek with a lack of gallantry unbecoming a theater goer (like me), you’d probably rather stream it at home. Unfortunately for those with that predilection, the movie will only be available in theaters. However, since it’s being distributed by Paramount, it’s virtually guaranteed to stream on Paramount+ first.
Recently, Paramount has made it easy for viewers to stream its movies soon after their release. “Bob Marley: One Love” was in theaters for just 59 days before reaching Paramount+, and even the popular “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” went to streaming 47 days after its first bow in theaters.
But bigger-budget films with a big following like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning” have seen extended stays in theaters of more than 150 days each. I don’t anticipate “A Quiet Place: Day One” will take that long to reach Paramount+, but I do believe it will stay in theaters longer than 45-55 days.
My ultimate prediction is that “A Quiet Place: Day One” will stream on Paramount+ on Friday, Oct. 16. That’s 110 days after its initial release, which makes sense given the film’s place in a well-regarded franchise. It also allows viewers to fire up the movie for streaming at their Halloween parties.
