Can You Watch ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ on STARZ Now?
The adaptation of the beloved Barbara Robinson novel is making its way to theaters now.
The holidays are just around the corner! Lionsgate wants to help audiences get into the spirit of the season with its new movie “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” an adaptation of the classic 1972 novel of the same name by Barbara Robinson which comes out on Friday, Nov. 8. We’ll tell you about the film and let you know when we think it will be available to stream on-demand at home below!
Key Details:
- “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” has won the affections of both critics and preview audiences.
- The film will stream first on STARZ, since its distributor in the U.S. is Lionsgate.
- Previous Lionsgate releases indicate the movie may wait a while before streaming.
Watch the Trailer for ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’:
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” follows the tale of the Herdman children, who have a reputation as being some of the worst kids in the entire world. But Grace and Bob Bradley aren’t intimidated by the Herdmans, and are determined to put them center-stage in starring roles in the town’s Christmas pageant, despite the warnings of all who have had run-ins with the family in the past.
The movie is getting a great response from critics, as well as preview audiences who have managed to sneak a screening thus far. It holds an 85% score from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, and 99% of preview audiences have also given their seal of approval to “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
When Will ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ Stream At Home?
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is being distributed by Lionsgate, which means it will stream on the STARZ on-demand service first once it has concluded a period of exclusivity in theaters and on premium video-on-demand streaming platforms like the Apple TV store, which allow viewers to rent or buy movies that are still in theaters.
Recent releases by Lionsgate indicate the movie could be in for a long theatrical window. “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” took 152 days to reach STARZ after its theatrical bow, and “Boy Kills World” took 140 days, though Lionsgate partnered with Roadside Attractions to distribute that film, sending it to Hulu first.
I’ll stick with the 140-day prediction for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” which would see it arrive on STARZ on Friday, March 28. March may not be the most-thought-of month when it comes to Christmas, but is there ever a bad time to get into the spirit of the season?
