Can you stream Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator II’ on Paramount+ now?

Fans have waited decades to see ‘Gladiator II,’ but how long will they have to wait to stream it from home?

Ridley Scott has made audiences wait nearly 25 years for a sequel to “Gladiator,” but the wait has finally ended. “Gladiator II” is officially releasing in American cinemas on Friday, Nov. 22, and we’ll take our best guess on when you’ll be able to stream it at home below!

Key Details:

  • Critics are mostly approving of the new “Gladiator” sequel.
  • Paramount is distributing the film in the United States, meaning it will arrive on Paramount+ first.
  • The release window for “Gladiator II” could be highly dependent on its box office performance.

Watch the trailer for ‘Gladiator II’:

“Gladiator II” takes place 16 years after the events of the first movie. It follows his son Lucius Verus, who was forced to flee Rome and assume a different identity. After his capture in North Africa, Lucius is brought back to Rome to fight as a gladiator, hoping to earn his chance at revenge against the general who forced him to return to a place he thought he’d left behind forever.

“Gladiator II” might not live all the way up to the legacy left by the first film, but reviewers aren’t hating it either. It currently has a 73% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with professional reviewers praising the increased bloody spectacle and campy humor from its predecessor.

When and where will ‘Gladiator II’ stream?

“Gladiator II” is being distributed by Paramount, which makes it easy to say which streaming service will eventually get the film. Once it’s done in theaters and on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services that let viewers rent or buy movies that are still in cinemas, “Gladiator II” will stream on Paramount+.

When that will be is a better question. Paramount follows different theatrical windowing strategies for its tentpole films than it does for other movies. For example, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning” both stayed in theaters for more than 150 days, whereas movies like “A Quiet Place: Day One” have had windows closer to 60 days.

I think “Gladiator II” will fall somewhere in the middle, and its pre-streaming period will be heavily dependent on its box office performance. If “Gladiator II” stays in theaters for 100 days, it will be available to stream on Paramount+ alongside the first film in the franchise on March 1, 2025.
