HBO Original Documentary “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes” Debuts Next Week

On the heels of its recent “Faye” debut, HBO has scheduled the premiere for another documentary about another of Hollywood’s grand dames.

The premium cabler has announced the cable and streaming premiere of its Original documentary “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes.” Directed by Nanette Burstein (“Hillary”), “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes” will offer an unprecedented look into Taylor’s life, drawing on 40 hours of newly unearthed audio interviews from a candid sit-down interview in 1964 with Richard Meryman, allowing the late Taylor in her own voice to tell the story of her storied career, from her film debut in 1943’s “Lassie Come Home,” her benchmark roles in “Giant,” “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” and “Butterfield 8,” and the struggles from the excesses of “Cleopatra,” as well as her relationships and close friendships.

Using personal photos, home movies, archival interviews, news footage, and clips from the iconic roles, the feature-length documentary, “The Lost Tapes” will “invite audiences to rediscover not just a megastar of Hollywood’s Golden Age but a complex woman who navigated lifelong fame, personal identity, and public scrutiny on a global stage from early childhood.”
