Chicago Fire offering free monthlong trial of MLS Season Pass
The Chicago Fire are searching for their first playoff appearance in nearly a decade, and want fans to watch along free.
It’s not quite playoff season yet for Major League Soccer, but it’s coming up soon. The MLS Cup playoffs will begin on Oct. 22, which means that clubs are now doing everything they can to make sure they’re included in the tournament. A total of 18 teams will qualify, including the top nine from both conferences. The Chicago Fire are one of the clubs battling for a spot, and the team is partnering with the MLS Season Pass streaming service to provide a one-month free trial so viewers can see the end of the season.

Starting Thursday, MLS fans can text “FIREUP” to 24258 to claim a one-month free trial of MLS Season Pass. They will also have the option to be enrolled in updates from the Chicago Fire, but this is not required to watch the free trial of MLS Season Pass from start to finish.
The free trial offer only lasts through Sept. 20, so if you want the trial, don’t wait too long to sign up. It’s valid for anyone without a current MLS Season Pass subscription, so even though the Chicago Fire are responsible for the promotion, you don’t have to be a Fire fan or live in the Chicago area to watch for free.
“Our fans are the heartbeat of this Club,” Chicago Fire FC executive Dave Baldwin said in a statement. “The momentum we’re feeling right now – from our push toward the playoffs to the excitement around our newly announced privately funded downtown stadium – is electric. We want every Chicagoan to be part of it. This offer is our way of saying: We appreciate you, you are part of our Club, and we want you with us every step of the way.”
The trial will allow fans to watch all remaining games of the regular season, which ends on Oct. 18. If your team is in a tight race for playoff seeding or is on the cusp of making it into the postseason tournament, having this free trial will be key to watching their journey toward the playoffs.
If you end up missing the promotion, MLS Season Pass recently lowered its price to just $29 for the rest of the season and playoffs combined. Another price drop may well be in the service’s future as well; traditionally, MLS Season Pass offers another discount to customers when the playoffs start.
