‘CoComelon’ signs deal to switch from Netflix to Disney+ in 2027
The swap will mean that Disney+ has two of biggest kids shows available in the coming years.
The House of Mouse has scored a big programming triumph. Multiple outlets report that Disney+ will become the streaming home of the preschool series “CoComelon,” meaning one of the preeminent shows for the little tykes age group will be available on what is arguably the most kid-forward service of them all.
Key Details:
- Still years away: “CoComelon” will not move from Netflix to Disney+ until 2027.
- Conflicting reports: Reports are unclear as to whether or not Netflix tried to keep “CoComelon.”
- Consolation prize: Netflix’s recent move to acquire “Sesame Street” looks all the wiser now.

There’s no immediate need to cancel your Netflix subscription and switch to Disney+ if you’re the parent of a toddler who loves “CoComelon.” The show’s new deal with Disney+ doesn’t take effect until 2027, so the series will remain on Netflix until then.
Likely not a coincidence, that is also the year that a “CoComelon” movie will be available in theaters, so Disney’s timing could not be more perfect. Although the series will undoubtedly bring new eyes to Disney+, ratings for “CoComelon” have dropped off recently. The show was the fifth most-watched of 2023, but did not break into the top 10 last year.
On the other hand, the move will give Disney+ a fantastic complement to its other top series geared specifically toward younger audiences in “Bluey.” That show is still a ratings powerhouse, having garnered 862 million viewing minutes in the week of April 21 through April 27, according to Nielsen.
There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Netflix tried to keep “CoComelon” from getting away. Deadline reports that while its Netflix sources claim that the streamer chose not to renew its contract with the show due to its viewership decline, others close to the negotiations say that Netflix did indeed try to keep “CoComelon,” but was simply outbid by Disney.
Whatever the case may be, Netflix’s move to acquire the streaming rights to “Sesame Street” now takes on a different importance. It’s entirely possible that Netflix was facing the potential loss of “CoComelon” when it decided to go after “Sesame Street,” an acquisition which will allow it to keep high-demand programming for younger kids in its library.
